It was said before that the CDMA iphone 4 has been improved in the communication chip, which is to abandon Infineon chips instead of using the Qualcomm chips. When they disassembled the CDMA iPhone 4, they found that the CDMA iPhone 4’s batteries are more compact and light weight than WCDMA iPhone 4s’. The battery capacity is the same, but the location of mechanical vibrator has been moved from the top right corner to the lower left corner of the body. Meanwhile, you can see a baseband chip that marked Qualcomm symbols in the chipset, and the model on the chip is Qualcomm MDM6600. It is said that the Droid Pro is also used the same baseband chip to CDMA iPhone 4, which supports HSPA + data transferring, and the fastest upstream speed can reach up to 14.4Mbps.
The Qualcomm MDM6600 baseband chip can support both CDMA and GSM networks, which means that you can switch between CDMA and GSM networks as if your mobile device is using this chip. Apple may not allow this chip to fully play a role on it because of various reasons, but this still keeps suspense on the next generation iPhone (iphone 5) in the near future.
